Introduction
In this video we are going to discuss how and why to filter the water you drink. First off, filtered water is preferred over unfiltered water. Filtering water removes many undesirable contaminant
Filters from grocery stores
Filters that you can get from your local grocery store such as Brita filters are a great, cost effective option. They are about 95% as effective at removing contaminants from your water as some of the more expensive water filtration solutions at only a fraction of the cost.
You may also use the filter found in your fridge. You need to make sure you replace the filter as directed by the manufacturer because they have limits on how much water they can process before they lose their effectiveness.
The Kube or reverse osmosis
The Kube is a reasonably priced product that is easy to install at home and fits under your kitchen sink. The gold standard in water filtration is reverse osmosis. While these types of filters are very effective, they are often quite expensive and difficult to install.
Disposable water bottles
Many of my clients ask if they should drink from disposable water bottles. While bottled water is easy to track and very convenient there are plenty of downsides including the environmental impact.
Additionally, the cost of purchasing a new plastic water bottle every day will be greater than if you invested in a stainless steel or BPA free water bottle. If the only water source available is a disposable plastic bottle, I would recommend drinking it even though it is not ideal.
The number one priority is to drink the right amount of water over the course of your day. Introducing a water filter will provide you with better quality water for your body. There is a filter for every budget
